Orange Basil Creamsicle
Sherbet 4 adults!! 🍊🍦 Orange basil creamsicle to bring back ONLY the good memories. See how it’s made here.
Makes 1 Drink
Ingredients
3 oz. brûléed orange juice (I’ll explain), about 1 orange plus 1 for garnish
2 tbsp. sugar (for the brûlée)
1 oz. lemon juice
1.5 oz. vodka
.25 tsp. vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
1 tbsp. plain greek yogurt
5-6 large basil leaves, plus one small for garnish
Pinch of salt
Make it!
Slice your orange in half shortways and pat the surface dry (the sugar won’t caramelize as well if it’s too wet). For the garnish, slice a thin round (shortways) from another orange. Sprinkle about 1 tsp. sugar on each half and smooth around evenly with a spoon. Use a torch to brûlée the sugar. If you don’t have a torch, set a rack to the top of the oven and broil the oranges, sugar side up, for 1 minute. Do not close the oven or walk away, watch your orange the entire time because they can burn!!!
Set aside your garnish orange slice for the end. Carefully smash the caramelized sugar on the large orange halves and juice them. Add basil leaves to the juice and muddle. Strain.
In a cocktail shaker, add orange juice, lemon juice, vodka, vanilla extract, salt and greek yogurt with ice. Shake vigorously until icy cold. Strain into a coupe glass and top with your brûléed orange slice and a basil leaf. Cheers!
