  • 1 orange, peels and segmented

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1 vanilla bean (or 1/2 teaspoon paste, or 1 teaspoon extract)

  • 5-6 plums, quartered

  • 2 anise seeds

  • 5-6 cloves

  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar

Make it!

  1. Add all orange peels, sugar and vanilla to your jar. Muddle.

  2. Heat apple cider vinegar over medium until it begins to simmer, remove from heat.

  3. Add the orange segments and all plums to the jar. Muddle until combined. Add cinnamon sticks, anise seeds and cloves. Pour hot vinegar into the jar. Seal and store at least 2 days (preferably a week) in the fridge.

  4. To serve: in a wine glass filled with ice, add 2 tablespoons shrub. Top with soda water and a dried orange segment (or fresh plum). Enjoy!
